In 2017, an idea took root when the principals of Journey Capital ventured into the senior housing industry, a bold leap from their hospitality background into uncharted territory. What began as an ambitious concept quickly transformed into a fulfilling mission: to create vibrant, thoughtfully designed communities where seniors can truly thrive.

From 2019 to 2022, Journey Capital focused on high-growth markets, developing ground-up communities in areas where demand for senior housing was soaring. We identified key locations in Fort Worth, Roanoke, and Aledo to bring our vision to life.

In 2020, as two of the communities opened, we faced the most challenging timing imaginable—COVID-19 caused a significant fall-out in our pre-leasing deposits, which in turn slowed our initial ramp-up projections. Despite these setbacks, we persevered. All properties were completed on budget, and no investor capital calls were made throughout the process.

By 2025, the communities had stabilized and were successfully exited to a public REIT, delivering a profitable return for all investors involved.
